Community maybe considered as a group of people that are connected with shared interests. It encapsulates the voices, citizens, municipalities…

According to Wikipedia, A community is a social unit of any size that shares common values, or that is situated in a given geographical area. It is a group of people who are connected by durable relations that extend beyond immediate genealogical ties, and who usually define that relationship as important to their social identity and practice.[i]

Each person within their community occupies different roles in our society.  Without these individuals, a community would not be functional. 

Leaders of the United Pentecostal Church of North America believe it is vital for the church to build stronger communities: connecting to the people, showing support, serving as a conduit to bridge the divide within the communities and facilitate education and growth within the church.   Thus, the church is a like a living organism that must work together to enrich the social and spiritual growth of the community. 

There are several ways in which the church can build stronger communities.  One way in which the United Pentecostal church endeavors to build a stronger community is through appreciation and participation; thus the implementation of Appreciation Sunday.

Appreciation Sunday is all about celebrating the people that defines the community.  This provides an open door for the church to fulfil the great commission.
